Auto Movers
FAQ
Q: How far in advance should I book my auto relocation?
A: Although our auto movers appreciate two weeks notice, we are sometimes able to accommodate last minute transports or even same day pick up.
Q: How and when do I pay?
A: We accept MasterCard, Visa and Discover cards as well as certified check, money order or cash. For some relocations a refundable deposit is required. The total amount is always due upon delivery of your vehicle.
Q: What type of equipment is used?
A: There are a few different options depending on your specific needs:
- Open carriers: For this process our auto movers load your vehicle onto an open transport carrier with 7-9 other vehicles. We use the same type of carriers that deliver new vehicles to the dealerships. They are typically 75-80 feet long and 14 feet high. Due to their size the carrier may not be able to access your specific address.
- Enclosed carriers: Your vehicle is loaded into a fully enclosed trailer. This type of shipping is recommended for antique, classic or exotic vehicles for the added protection it offers. Unlike open transportation your vehicle is protected from the outside elements and road debris. We also recommend enclosed shipping for vehicles with low ground clearance. Enclosed carriers utilize a lift gate loading system, which is designed for extreme low clearance vehicles.
- Overseas: Your vehicle is transported to the coast in one of the above options, where it is loaded onto a vehicle carrier ship and shipped to your destination. Because of customs and docking delays, we cannot guarantee specific delivery schedules on overseas deliveries. Overseas deliveries have specific requirements; please see Shipping Tips (Internal Link) for best overseas shipping practices.
Q: What if my vehicle is late?
A: If your vehicle shipment exceeds the transit time stated on your contract, EAS will provide you with an Enterprise Rent-A-Car. For more information, download our PDF. (Link to PDF HERE)
Q: How can I ensure my vehicle arrives in the same condition?
A: A detailed condition report of the exterior of your vehicle will be performed by the carrier at pick up. Make sure at delivery you compare the condition of your vehicle with the report made at pick up. Be sure to note any discrepancies on the carrier's paperwork at the time of delivery. Claims not noted on the carriers delivery receipt will not be honored. See Shipping Tips for helpful hints on best shipping practices. (Link to internal page)
Q: How does auto relocation work?
A: Once your order has been placed, we record your dates, schedule a pick up and make a delivery plan with our auto movers. On pick up, the carrier will go through a detailed physical inspection of the exterior of your vehicle. This same process will happen upon delivery so you can ensure your vehicle arrives in the same condition. Due to the size of our carriers, it is not possible to access some addresses. If this is the case you may need to meet the carrier at a more accessible location, such as a nearby shopping area. This arrangement will be agreed upon with the carrier operator during the scheduling process.
Q: Will my vehicle go to a terminal?
A: In some instances your vehicle may go to a terminal. Terminals may be used in order to meet customers scheduling requirements or special requests. This arrangement will be discussed when your shipment is scheduled.
